Headlines Train Strike Announced - First Great Western Maintenance workers will stage a 48 hour strike a week on Sunday in a row over hours and overtime. The rail workers, based at Oxford as well as Bristol, Reading, London and Penzance, voted three to one in favour of taking industrial action last night. The Rail Maritime & Transport union claims First Great Western has refused to pay an enhanced overtime rate or agree a set 35-hour week.

Help's at Hand to Get Fit - It's hoped a new referral programme will help improve residents' health and fitness levels. The Oxfordshire Exercise on Referral Scheme has been launched today by the Primary Care Trust and Oxford City Council’s Leisure Services. Eligible patients can be referred by health professional, such as their GP or physiotherapist, for a 12-week personal fitness programme tailored to their personal and medical needs.
